Hello. This message is to inform you that it appears that you may have been engaging in sock puppetry – that is, using multiple user accounts illegitimately. Please note that having multiple user accounts are allowed, but using more than one account to create the impression of being different people is strictly prohibited. The following uses of multiple accounts are not permitted:
- Voting more than once at any community discussion or permissions request (using multiple accounts to vote for yourself is perhaps the most serious offense, but casting multiple votes on any discussion or election is not allowed)
- Engaging in a "discussion" with oneself using multiple accounts, to create the impression that a conversation is occurring when it is actually not
- Good-hand/bad-hand editing – making vandalism edits or other disruptive behavior with one account
- Requesting multiple wikis with multiple different accounts, so as to avoid scrutiny of wiki requests
Note that the above list is not exhaustive, and there may be other illegitimate uses of multiple accounts that are discovered on a case-by-case basis. Please also note that intentionally editing while logged out when a registered account exists is also considered sock puppetry, and may be treated the same as two accounts being operated by the same person. Users who engage in sock puppetry may be blocked from editing, and if they engage in sock puppetry across multiple wikis, may be globally locked. Additionally, the underlying IP address range of any sock puppet accounts may be blocked by Stewards with the assistance of the CheckUser tool – on shared networks, this may impact other users. If you have been using multiple accounts illegitimately, please verify that immediately and disclose any and all user accounts that you have created. If you have not been using multiple accounts, and believe that you have received this message in error, please leave a message on my talk page or on the Stewards' noticeboard. If your account has already been blocked and/or globally locked, you may appeal by email to [email protected]
. Thanks!
