Invalid Discord Invite edit edit source
The Discord invite link on the Main Page's Contact Us section is invalid. Just a heads up! Metrago (talk) 14:14, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Trust and Safety groups deprecated edit edit source
Because of lack of need at this time, WikiOasis Trust and Safety as a team has merged into Stewards. This means I am the 'Trust and Safety Representative', of sorts, but ultimately a Steward by role. Globe is now just Steward.
To refresh on how the farm is run, it is governed by an Executive Team that includes stewards and sysadmins, who respectively handle community and technology affairs on the farm (though membership can and does overlap). There are other possibilities, for example we have some advisors and are willing to work with people who have decent ideas how to push the farm forward (we could always use some energy), and if you have a wiki project you'd like to host we're open to discussing that as well.
Take care all,

Growth Tools edit edit source
Heya all, I've enabled the GrowthExperiments extension and set it up here, to allow for new users to connect with a mentor and ask questions they may have to them, along with suggesting tasks such as adding links between mainspace pages and and copyediting. I don't think GrowthExperiments will necessarily be here for a long time, but I'd like to see if it helps with retention and encouraging volunteering here. If anybody is interested in mentoring, and has more than 50 edits and your account is more than 90 days old, go to Special:MentorDashboard to sign up.
Cheers, --zippybonzo (c • ca) 08:23, 7 February 2025 (UTC)

Please help me with importing wiki pages edit edit source
Good afternoon. I need to upload a wiki from Fandom to my wiki. I downloaded the dump (weighing more than 30 MB), and as a result, I get the error "Import failed:
Session data is lost. You may have completed your work session. Please make sure that you are still logged in and try again. If this still doesn't help, try logging out and logging in again, and make sure that your browser allows you to accept cookies from this site. The interviewee prefix is not specified." What should I do? I followed all the instructions that were there, and the error still appears. PMR (talk) 09:00, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- @PMR Heya, could you send a link to your dump (or create a request at Special:RequestImportDump and I'll look into it later today to see if I can fix it. Thanks :) --zippybonzo (c • ca) 09:54, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Any plans to update MediaWiki software on our wikis to 1.44? edit edit source
Does WikiOasis plan to update MediaWiki software on our wikis to 1.44 once this version is released? I heard that MediaWiki 1.44 will be released later this month. If so, when? Xeverything11 (talk) 18:41, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- WikiOasis is committed to both having up-to-date software and ensuring our wikis run smoothly and efficiently. We will likely upgrade once the new version is shown to be stable and ready, so an exact date is hard to say, especially when its release date hasn’t even been announced. Globe (talk) 19:08, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hiya, Tech person here. We generally don't immediately upgrade due to stability reasons - last time when 1.43 came out we waited about a month. This is primarily due to the fact we have to wait for core dependencies to update.
- Regardless, we're not going to push out an update that hasn't even been released yet, and we generally don't confirm updates until on the day.
Citoid and import issues edit edit source
I saw previous discussions about Citoid and I saw it argued that citoid wastes server resources. However, wikimedia has its own free API we can use instead of hosting our own zotero server. Additionally, I have been having issues importing templates from wikipedia. Is there a fix? it seems like the server was overloaded (even though the XLM was only 3 megabytes max) Project Herzl (talk) 13:23, 29 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Project Herzl: Please send us the XML file and wiki URL. We will import for you. --Waki285 (talk) 14:36, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
- Here is the XML (Since I won't be able to quickly add things, I added many things I may need in the future, so it is larger). Here is the wiki. Thanks
- Is it possible to add citoid as I suggested? Project Herzl (talk) 07:28, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- Failed to import: XML error at line 235653: EntityRef: expecting ';' . Citoid has been added (Experimental). --Waki285 (talk) 15:00, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding citoid. Is it possible to remove the restriction on amount of digits that are allowed to be added in an edit? We are having trouble importing our existing content here. Is it possible to make the wikis have the templates required for citoid by default? I gathered the important ones again here, without the problematic page from earlier (it was cite thesis). could you try to import it now? thanks. Project Herzl (talk) 12:33, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
- Import completed. What is the limit on the number of digits? Is it the total number of bytes on the page? It is currently set at 2KB, but can be extended if there are problems. --Waki285 (talk) 21:45, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you @Waki285 for the import. I have manually imported some other important things that were left out, but could not get citoid to work and show up when I come to cite a source. Could you help me out on that?
- Regarding the limit, the page I am trying to create has upwards of 33k characters (last edit I meant characters too, not digits). I used a word-to-wikitext converter. Is it possible to allow such a large amount of data to be added in a single edit? Thanks again Project Herzl (talk) 10:04, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

- Upgraded. --Waki285 (talk) 00:15, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- In future, I just want to put it out there that upgrades to minor versions are generally not things we prioritise, we update to major versions and generally try to stay as up to date as possible, however it's not always our top priority to do that. --zippybonzo (c • ca) 07:00, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Is there a global user page option on WikiOasis? edit edit source
Hi y'all, I'm new here. Does WikiOasis have something equivalent to Miraheze's "global user page," where you can set your user page on login.miraheze.org and it applies to all Miraheze wikis automatically? 1something (talk) 18:29, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
- Your meta user page will display globally, providing you have not created a local user page. Globe (talk) 13:24, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
Question regarding wiki requests edit edit source
Is there a limit as to how many wikis users are allowed to request in a short period of time? I joined today and plan on moving eight wikis (seven from Fandom and one from Miraheze as I am leaving both farms) here, but I don't want to accidentally flood the wiki request queue. —PinkPugPrincess (talk) 11:39, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- While we don’t have a strict limit on the number of wikis someone requests, we do ask that you are respectful of our server resources and actually use all the wikis that you request, which I believe you will do. Go ahead and request! Globe (talk) 13:23, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
I can't edit a page my own wiki, why is that? edit edit source
I just made my account yesterday and requested a wiki, but I can't seem to edit on it. I've tried clicking every other button I can find, and a notable find is that I'm not allowed to execute the action I've requested. Is it about my account age or is there something else to this? CorvMyDorvi (talk) 02:43, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- I’ve just confirmed that your account has the proper permissions on your wiki. Please make sure you’re actually logged in locally to your wiki when trying to make these edits, I’m guessing that’s it. If that isn’t the case, please let me know. Thanks, Globe (talk) 03:00, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- How do I log in locally? This is my first time using a platform that isn't Fandom, so I don't know much. I have the option to view my global account info, but I'm just confused on what to do. I might be already locally logged in, or it just isn't the case?
Problems with Count Duckula Wiki edit edit source
I can't seem to do anything other than viewing on Count Duckula Wiki. I am logged in and have the permissions to change the wiki's settings, yet the Administration links aren't showing up. These issues could be why I can't access Special:Import nor Special:RequestImport. Should I create a task on Phorge, and if so, what should I report this issue as? —PinkPugPrincess (talk) 09:25, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
+. I forced the engine to display these ManageWiki links, and it says that I can only view the settings of my wiki, but I can't edit them. What is this, what should I do about it, and why the f*ck is the administration being so silent? Czalk (talk) 18:57, 21 August 2025 (UTC)

Trouble enabling Portable Infobox edit edit source
In ManageWiki, I turned on Portable Infobox. Navigating to Special:ManageWiki shows the checkbox next to PIB is checked on. Special: Log on my wiki also shows that I enabled portableinfobox. However, Special:Version says that Portable Infobox is not enabled, and the PIB syntax does not actually work.
