Stewards

Stewards hold the highest level of access within the WikiOasis community, granting them the authority to utilize any part of the MediaWiki interface across all wikis.

Authority

Stewards are responsible for enforcing WikiOasis's global policies. In cases of increased requests for assistance, Stewards may delegate certain tasks to other users, such as Global Administrators, to manage routine actions.

Roles

Stewards assist wiki communities by addressing local issues such as disputes and disruptive behavior. They have the authority to assign permissions and utilize administrative tools (e.g., blocking, deleting, protecting) to maintain community order. Additionally, they handle global matters, including cross-wiki disruptions, global group assignments, account locks, and renaming.

Stewards serve as global CheckUsers and Suppressors across WikiOasis, as most wikis do not have local CheckUser or Suppressor roles. This allows them to remove content from the view of all non-stewards and access the technical data used by accounts to investigate abuse. They also function as Bureaucrats on Meta.

Appointment

Stewards can be elected after a request on Requests for Stewardship. The steward team will discuss the request and, if they deem the candidate could reasonably pass a vote, set up an election via SecurePoll. Discussion will occur on the permissions request, but voting will be done via SecurePoll. The election will last at least a week and will require at least 5 support votes and a support percentage of over 75%.

Revocation

Stewards can be removed via a revocation request on the permissions page that is clearly labeled as a revocation. The request must receive at least 5 votes in support, and a total 50% support ratio.
