Global Conduct Policy/Draft

The WikiOasis Conduct Policy establishes the standards of behavior expected from all users on WikiOasis. This policy aims to create a welcoming and respectful environment for collaboration and knowledge sharing. Violations of this policy may lead to various sanctions, as seen in the Enforcement section.

Prohibited Conduct

Harassment

Harassment is strictly prohibited and encompasses any behavior intended to intimidate, belittle, or harm others. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Personal attacks: Engaging in name-calling, bullying, or other forms of personal insults.
• Threats: Making threats of death, violence or intimidation, either directly or indirectly.
• Unwanted communication: Persistently contacting or stalking individuals in a manner that makes them uncomfortable.
• Privacy violations: Disclosing someone's personal information or identity without their explicit consent.

Inappropriate Behavior

Users are expected to engage in constructive dialogue. Inappropriate behavior includes:

• Repeated attacks: Making multiple personal attacks against different users or groups.
• False accusations: Publicly making unfounded claims about other users' behavior or intentions.
• Misattribution: Attributing statements or opinions to others without their consent or in a way that misrepresent their views.

Hate Speech

Hate speech is not tolerated on WikiOasis. This includes any communication that incites violence or prejudicial action against individuals or groups based on characteristics defined in the Non-discrimination section.

Standards

Local administrators and community functionaries are expected to uphold a higher standard of conduct. They must not use their authority to harass, intimidate, or silence others. Any violations by functionaries will be taken seriously and may result in stricter sanctions.

Enforcement

Local administrators are responsible for the enforcement of this policy. Global Administrators, Global Patrollers, and/or Stewards might also assist. Possible actions include:

• Warnings: Informing users of their violations and reminding them of the conduct policy.
• Blocking: Temporarily or permanently restricting access to users who repeatedly violate the policy.
• Content moderation: Reverting or hiding edits that violate this policy.

Sanctions

Sanctions for violations are at the discretion of local administrators and may vary based on the severity and context of the violation. Options include:

• Temporary bans: Short-term removal from the platform.
• Permanent bans: Long-term or permanent restrictions for serious or repeated violations.
• Global locking: Users who violate policies across multiple wikis may face global locking, restricting their access to all WikiOasis wikis.

Non-discrimination

The WikiOasis Foundation does not discriminate based on the following factors:

• Sex,
• Gender identity and/or expression,
• Sexual orientation,
• Race and/or ethnicity,
• National origin,
• Disability, or
• Religion.

Users of the Foundation's services shall not discriminate based on any of these factors. Global bans may be instituted for violations of this policy.

Complaint procedure

One may file a complaint with the Compliance Officer, which shall be the President of the Foundation. It shall take the following form:
