The WikiOasis Content Policy is a comprehensive global policy that applies to all wikis within the WikiOasis network. It outlines the requirements and restrictions regarding the content that can be created and shared on our platform, ensuring a safe and constructive environment for all users.
Prohibited Content
We will not host the following content, as it is out of the scope of our project.
- Sexually Explicit Content: We are not a platform for hosting pornography. We will allow sexually explicit material provided there is educational value to the material.
- Hate Speech and Violence: Content that promotes hate speech, terrorism, illegal activities, or any form of violence and harassment is forbidden. This includes any material that incites harm against individuals or groups based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
- Illegal Content: For legal reasons, WikiOasis cannot host any content that is illegal in the United States of America. This includes terrorism or other plotting of illegal activity.
- Commercial Promotion: Content or wikis that exist solely to promote a business, sell products, or manipulate search engine rankings are not permitted. WikiOasis is intended for non-commercial wikis, not commercial ventures.
- Lack of Structure: Wikis without clear rules, leadership, or organizational structure may be subject to removal. It is essential for each wiki to have defined governance to maintain quality and integrity.
- Duplicate Content: Creation of wikis that duplicate existing content on WikiOasis is not allowed. Users are encouraged to contribute to existing wikis rather than creating redundant ones.
- Toxic or Unsuitable Content: Any content deemed toxic, harmful, or unsuitable by the community or stewards will not be tolerated.
- Scope Changes: If a wiki wishes to make significant changes to its scope or purpose, it must first obtain approval from a steward. This ensures that all changes align with WikiOasis's goals and policies.
Required Content
When requesting the creation of a new wiki, users must provide a clear explanation of the wiki's purpose and scope. Proposals should be well-thought-out and align with our content policies. Our staff will review all requests to determine their appropriateness and compliance before granting or denying approval.
Violations of This Policy
Violations of the content policy are categorized as follows:
- Individual Violations: These occur when a single page or a few pages violate the content policy. In such cases, stewards or local administrators will take action to remove the offending content and may issue warnings or sanctions to the responsible user(s).
- Full Violations: A full violation occurs when an entire wiki or a significant portion of its content fails to comply with the policy. In these instances, stewards will conduct a thorough review of the wiki and collaborate with local administrators to rectify the violations. If the issues cannot be resolved, or if there are extraordinary circumstances, the wiki may be closed, marked as deleted, or subjected to other necessary actions.
By adhering to the WikiOasis Content Policy, all users can help maintain a high standard of content and foster a positive community focused on collaboration and knowledge sharing. Thank you for contributing to the integrity of WikiOasis!
