Modern Tropes is intended to be a fork from TVTropes following a recent spike of poor (and unpunished) behavior from their mods and poorly received changes to site rules that prioritize clicks over everything else. The scope would be similar to theirs - a catalog of recurring themes and elements in media ("Tropes"), with pages on both the tropes themselves and the works they come from (which span across all mediums, from literature to video games). Although precautions will be set in place to prevent unnecessary mentions of 18+ topics, they may arise naturally in discussions of 18+ works, and they will be moderated. We intend to differentiate ourselves from our competitors by our focus on following trends from outside our bubble very closely and adapting to fit changing times.
