CentralNotice extension causing ResourceLoader startup failure. I am experiencing a critical issue on my wiki (<nowiki>https://subspaceworld.wikioasis.org/wiki</nowiki>). VisualEditor and Special pages (such as Special:Preferences) are not functioning. The URL changes (e.g., ?action=edit), but the UI does not load. The stack trace indicates that the CentralNotice extension is attempting to access cn_* tables (e.g., cn_notices) which do not exist in the database. This causes the ResourceLoader startup module to fail, which in turn breaks the entire JavaScript UI (including Preferences tabs and VisualEditor). Could you please either: Disable the CentralNotice extension for this wiki or Run the required database updates (e.g., maintenance/update.php) to create the necessary cn_* tables? I run Plydiapedia (https://plydiapedia.wikioasis.org/wiki/Main_Page), which was created for a private project. I have had a consistent problem with random users coming in and messing with templates, creating their own pages, etc.

:#My thought process was largely made up of cognitive distortions and overconfidence. It was largely the Dunning-Kruger effect. I obviously did not consider that I was a rookie sysadmin and should not have been admining a site that large, or even of medium size. For that, I can only be sorry.
:#I quickly returned because I was asked to deal with various things relating to the project and asked to handle an emergency threatening life by Globe, and I just figured that I was trusted enough to rejoin the project, if I was asked to deal with such a heavy topic. I think I just needed a short break. My trust may not have been fully recovered, but I personally just needed a week's break.
:#Mainly improvements to the organization, seeking donations, the Safety side of things, etc.

===Elections and Appointments===
All elections and appointments to the Board must be done in the fifth month of the year (May) except in case of vacancy mid-term, or in case of failure to confirm a community-elected Director, in both cases, a new election must be held as described above, except that in the first case, appointed seats where a mid-term vacancy occurs may be replaced by appointment of any person qualified to serve as a Director for the remainder of the seat's term.

===Vacancies===
All vacancies in the Board may be filled by the affirmative vote of a majority of the remaining Directors, even if the remaining Directors do not constitute a quorum.

===General Powers===
The Board of Directors shall hold and exercise all corporate powers and shall manage the management of all the Foundation's affairs, property, and interests, as per the powers asserted by the Wyoming Nonprofit Corporations Act.

===Eligibility to serve===
Any natural person is eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, subject to the other provisions of this section.

====Minor directors====
Directors who are under 18 years of age must have written parent or guardian consent to serve on the Board. Such consent shall be filed with the Secretary, and such consent must be renewed annually.

====Non-disclosure agreement====
All Directors must execute a non-disclosure agreement in a form provided for by Board policy before service as a Director.

===Initial Directors===
At least one, but up to nine initial directors shall be appointed by the incorporator at the time of incorporation. These appointees shall be considered to be initial directors, within the meaning of the Wyoming Nonprofit Corporation Act, and shall only be removed upon the expiry of their term or by the Board, with or without cause. The first election for community-elected directors shall be held as soon as practicable.

===Duration of Terms===
Directors may be appointed or elected for up to two year terms.
===Resignation===
A Director may resign at any time by providing written notice to the Secretary or President. Such resignation shall be effective immediately, unless a later date is specified in the notice.
===Removal of Directors===
A Director may be removed from the Board, at a meeting called specifically for the removal of a Director by two-thirds of the Board with or without cause.
===Remuneration===
The Board may adopt a resolution that results in Directors being paid reasonable remuneration for their service as Directors or provide for reimbursement of actual costs incurred in connection to Foundation activities. However, no Director shall receive excessive compensation while serving as Director. The Board shall exercise diligence in ensuring that no Director receives excessive compensation, including, but not limited to, by adopting a conflict of interest policy consistent with state and federal law.
===Loans===
Loans shall not be made by the Foundation to any Director.

==Article 4: Officers==
The officers shall consist of the:
* President,
* Vice President,
* Secretary,
* Treasurer,
* Director of Technology,
* Director of Community Support and Safety.

The Board may create officer positions and delegate authority to them to the maximum extent authorized by Wyoming law.

The President shall have general supervision of the Foundation's daily affairs and shall perform all other duties as are incidental to the office or as required by resolution of the Board. For emergency and discretionary spending needs during the year, the President may authorize the Treasurer to carry out expenditures up to the amount previously authorized by the Board. The President shall not carry out expenditures directly unless authorized by resolution of the Board. The President may sign, with the Secretary or any other proper officer of the organization thereunto authorized by the Board of Directors, any contracts, or other instruments which the Board of Directors has authorized to be executed, except in cases where the signing and execution thereof shall be expressly delegated by the Board of Directors or by these Bylaws to some other officer or agent of the Organization, or shall be required by law to be otherwise signed or executed.

The Vice President may perform the duties of the President if the President is unable or unwilling to perform them.

The Secretary shall keep the books and records of the Foundation, including minutes of all Board meetings, and shall handle most correspondence from or to the Foundation.

The Treasurer shall:
* Have custody of all the Organization's monies and securities and keep regular books of account;
* Disburse the organization's funds in payment of the just demands against the Organization or as may be ordered by the Board, taking proper vouchers for such disbursements;
* Provide the Board of Directors a financial report at least once every quarter of the fiscal year;
* Inform the Board of Directors on the financial health of the Organization; and
* Provide the Board with an account of all his or her transactions as Treasurer and of the financial conditions of the office properly required of him or her by the Board.

The Director of Technology is the presiding member of the Technology team of volunteers. The Director of Technology is responsible for the management of the Foundation's technology, including servers.
The Board may further define the name, roles, and responsibilities of this team by resolution. The Director of Technology is the final arbiter of disputes among Technology team members, having the option to escalate issues to the Board. The Director of Technology is responsible for approving proposed modifications to Technology policy and can add new members to the Technology team following adequate discussion among existing members or pursuant to policy established by resolution of the Board.

In the event of an extended absence, the Board may transfer the Director of Technology's fiscal authority to the President by resolution.

The Director of Community Support and Safety is the presiding member of the Community Support and Safety (CS&S) team of volunteers. The Board may further define the name, roles, and responsibilities of this team by resolution. The Director of Community Support and Safety is the final arbiter of disputes among Community Support and Safety team members, having the option to escalate issues to the Board. The Director of Community Support and Safety is responsible for approving proposed modifications to CS&S policy and can add new members to the CS&S team following adequate discussion among existing members or pursuant to policy established by resolution of the Board. The Director of Community Support and Safety shall appoint a member of the CS&S team to serve as a deputy. ==Article 5: Meetings==

===Special Meetings===
Special meetings of the Board may be called by one-third of the Board, or the President. Special meetings shall be held upon two days' notice, except that notice may be waived by any director or by attendance without objection by any director.

===Quorum and voting===
A quorum shall consist of a majority of currently appointed Directors of all classes but must never be below two (2) Directors. Any meeting that is adjourned may be continued without the presence of a quorum of the Board as long as all the Directors are given reasonable notice of the time and place such adjournment shall resume.

If there are ever fewer Directors on the Board of Directors than what constitutes the minimum quorum defined in (i) then the only action which may constituted is the election of new Directors.

===Action without meeting===
Any action which may be taken at a meeting of the Board, excluding amendments to these Bylaws or Articles of Incorporation, may be taken without a meeting, provided all Directors unanimously agree, and such unanimous consent is included in the minutes of the proceeding, filed with the corporate books/records, and sets forth the action taken by the Board.

==Article 6: Committees and Departments==
Standing or special committees may be created by the Board. Committees may consist of natural or legal persons that are not Directors, except for committees delegated authority by the Board. Any committee consisting of Directors may be delegated authority by the Board, in accordance with Wyoming state law.

The Board may create departments to delegate certain powers to act on behalf of the Board, provided the Board passes a resolution indicating such creation or delegation. Departments shall be lead by a Director of that department as appointed by the Board of Directors and this Director shall regularly inform and respond to the Board for all actions of the department. These reports shall be presented during Board meetings and may be recorded in organizational records and minutes.

===Rights Prohibited from being Delegated===
Pursuant to statute, the Board may not delegate the following powers to any committee or department:
# Authorize distributions;
# Approve dissolution, merger, consolidation or the sale, pledge or transfer of all or substantially all of the Foundation's assets;
# Elect, appoint or remove directors or fill vacancies on the board or on any of its committees; or
# Adopt, amend or repeal the Articles of Incorporation or these Bylaws.

==Article 7: Records==

The Foundation must keep a complete and accurate accounting and minutes of the proceedings of the Board of Directors within the corporate books/records.

===Retention of records===
The Foundation shall keep as permanent records all meeting minutes of the Board, all actions taken without a meeting by the Board, all actions taken by committees on behalf of the Board, and all waivers of notices of meetings.

===Accounting records===
The Foundation shall maintain appropriate accounting records.

===Legibility of records===
Any books, records, and minutes may be in any form capable of being converted into written form within a reasonable time upon request.

===Right to inspect===
Any Director or Director representative has the right, upon written request delivered to the Foundation, to inspect and copy during usual business hours the following documents of the Foundation:

Articles of Incorporation;
These Bylaws;
Minutes of the Board proceedings;
Annual statements of affairs; and,
The other documents held at the principal address pursuant to these Bylaws.
The Foundation acknowledges and agrees that any obligation to produce corporate documents under this Article of these Bylaws shall be attached to the Secretary as part of their duties.

== Article 8: Special Corporate Acts==

If the Treasurer is incapacitated or otherwise unavailable, then the President may execute the respective documents to bind the Foundation.

===Conflicts of Interest in Special Corporate Acts===
If the President holds an interest that exists outside of the capacity of being President, then any agreement involving such interest must be signed by a separate individual officer to duly bind the Foundation to such an agreement or instrument.

===Consolidations===
Following the approval by the Board, in order for any consolidation or merger to be effective, it must follow the process set out under the laws of the state of incorporation. Any merger which would result in the loss of the Foundation's nonprofit or tax-exempt status is not permitted under these Bylaws.

===Reorganizations===
Following the approval by the Board, in order for any conversion of the Foundation to another organizational structure to be effective, it must follow the processes set out under the laws of the state of incorporation. Any conversion which would result in the loss of the Foundation's nonprofit or tax-exempt status is not permitted under these Bylaws.

===Dissolution===
Following the approval by the Board, in order for the Foundation to be dissolved, it must follow the process set out under the laws of the state of incorporation.

==Article 9: Fiscal Year==
The fiscal year of the Foundation shall be divided into quarters of 3 months, ending in December.

To the fullest extent permitted by Wyoming law, the Foundation shall indemnify its directors, officers, and agents against expenses and liabilities incurred in connection with service to the Foundation.

==Article 11: Amendments==

==Article 12: Dissolution==
The Foundation is created for charitable purposes. As such, any assets of the Foundation, if it is dissolved, shall go to an organization qualifying as exempt under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

:# Absolutely I have, none of us our perfect. The thing I’ll talk about here is teamwork. Working as apart of a team is difficult, no matter whether that’s in person or online. People have different views and feel quite strongly that their way is right. This is the same for me. I need to be more open to comprise and less “my way or the highway” per se. I’m actively working to do better at that both here and in real life.
:# My ideal vision of stewardship would be a team of users empowered with special tools to assist the communities of WikiOasis. Whether that’s be handling abuse globally or assisting with requests on meta, my goal would be that all stewards are simply doing their best to make the best decisions and actions for the community.
:# Definitely not a “slam dunk,” but a connection is definitely possible. User agents are very rarely a reliable means to determine sockpuppetry and usage of the same VPN indicates they may be related, but it could also simply be two users happening to be connecting to WO via the same proxy (especially if they are located in China and have to use a VPN). I would first talk with my team. As this is obviously a potentially complex case, I would want to talk with the other stewards before doing anything unilaterally. I would also look for any other similarities (editing pattern/history, usernames, etc.) I wouldn’t take any action without discussing with the team for a case like this, however, for the sake of answering this question, I don’t think it would be a bad idea at all to email the user in question (assuming all of their edits are in good faith and positive) asking if they are aware about our policy on multiple accounts.

As Miraheze is a respectable (pause to look at Fandom) farm with somewhat similar workings and policies as WO, I was willing to consider the application despite limited experience on WO. I then contacted Tali64 regarding the application, as he is active on Miraheze as well. He shared the Crystalite had been extremely helpful with CVT reports. :# That line is at an ever changing point right now. Currently, the bylaws allow for direct election of the steward role by the community, but not much else. I wouldn’t be shocked if that changes in the near future, but currently, that is the only direct way the community has to “govern” itself. However, I don’t believe that it would be a stretch to think that the board would listen to and comply with community requests through processes like Requests for Comment. For me personally, I believe the board has sole authority and discretion regarding legal compliance and financial decisions (although both should be done transparently). I also, though controversially, believe that part of legal compliance involves site governance. So I do believe the board, by default, has control over the governance of the site, unless specifically stated otherwise in the bylaws (such as direct election of stewards). I hope this makes sense, I’m very tired and kind of rambling.

There is precedence in this space for 'credentialed outsiders' to be brought in, the exact line for what qualifies is debatable of course. :Thank you for your thoughtful questions, I will do my best to answer these questions!
:1. I think Patroller on miraheze Meta has helped me be comfortable in identifying stuff like spam, vandalism, and other issues quickly. I have had experience using sysop tools on the miraheze Grace Wiki, a semi-popular one, which I'd say involves a lot of coordination and learning to work with people. For assistance, I'd say I want help on more complex cases that aren't entirely textbook, especially considering policy interpretation and documentation is lacking a bit on meta.
:2. If I were an outsider, I'd say my biggest concern would be giving someone so new such large hats. Sure, my Miraheze experience can also be counted a little bit, but WikiOasis has its fair share of differences. I totally understand why my appointment was a little shaky-I was pretty surprised myself, straightaway getting the role. Talking about myself, being, well...myself, I can't reasonably say I will be perfect in my role, because firstly, I'm biased...surprise, surprise, and also because I'm human. The simple fact is, the most senior stewards to the newest faces will all make mistakes, and I'm no exception. If I am elected, all I can promise is that as a relatively new user, I will do my best and seek guidance from my fellows.
:3. I think what I'd want most from global sysop is more distinction than just "sysop but everywhere". It's a new role, so I'd say what I'd want from it is not only just maintenance of different wikis, but more interaction.
:4A. For this, considering it's a brand new account, I'd delete the userpage and llock with the reasoning of an account only made for spam/advertising purposes.
:4B. This wouldn't be too much of a concern to me if it's general info about them self and the link to the blog isn't very pushed/spammed everywhere.
:4C. Just a lock for this one.
:4D. For this, I'd delete the local page and contact T@S to vanish the account and hide revisions.
:4E. For this one, I'd only intervene straightaway if there's serious stuff, like death threats and similar. But if it's just a plain nasty discussion and the admin's aren't intervening, I'd leave a message on the most recently active one, more like a friendly user giving a nudge than an action from a global sysop.
:4F. For this one, I'm not totally sure. It's possible they're socks, but if they have done nothing I ask someone else and keep an eye on the accounts.

:1. While I do admit, I think some of the "hey, why am I getting these rights so easily?" might have been lost somewhere in the "WAIT ME?? REALLY??", and honestly, I understand how rights like these usually involve community trust and experience, but for the purpose of transparency, my accepting this nomination was done in mostly good faith, and I hope this election will validate it.
:2. On a day to day basis, i would focus primarily on cross wiki maintenance, like handling spam, vandalism, and unattended issues on smaller or less active wikis, or even the inverse, like very large wikis that can't handle their size. Recently, the Italian Brainrot wiki migrated from Miraheze to WikiOasis. "Migration" is putting it nicely; I think the proper word is "eviction". Of course, I understand it was necessary, but a wiki having to leave Miraheze of all farms....it's going to be tough handling it. I think firstly though I would also see to some meta clean-up, since there aren't any sysops here yet.
:3. I would say there is some overlap in the two roles, but I see global sysops as focusing more on routine maintenance (e.g vandalism + basic cleanup), while stewards handle more sensitive or complex matters that come with their tools and rights like CU and Suppression.
:4. I think local administrators should always take priority on their own wikis and global sysops and stewards should act in a supportive capacity, not as replacements. I believe making that promise of "we won't interfere unless we absolutely have to" should be very important...though some wiki farms would disagree *cough cough* fandom *cough cough*. Jokes aside, I think finding the balance and knowing when to step in is something important that all global volunteers should know. Hi, some of you may know me in the Discord Server as I had been moderating it. Today I'm running for Steward due to Zippy's suggestion as I have already signed an NDA with the Foundation and having 1 Steward as backup is good in case of heavy loads as we have recently accepted the Italian Brainrot Wiki into WikiOasis. While I am quite vastly inexperienced (even tho I'm a little bit active at Miraheze), I would like to have an opportunity to be able to learn from having this position, I plan to help out with CU investigations and dealing with other tasks that other Global Roles like Global Sysops cannot. I did not expect to fire for this role at first, on account of being in quite a few places and being on projects that must take higher priority.

Seeing existing requests I have shifted in this position, and I believe I would offer some value as a figure providing second-opinions who can temper decision making, a presence in appeals, and occasionally someone to complete first line actions if I am in the right spot and ahead on other projects, among other aspects a Steward is involved in.

I would also like to exert some influence in developing the community model with insights from, but not directly mirroring Miraheze. Indirect activity like this I consider a major aspect of a community facing role such as Steward. I am interested in other organizational aspects such as pushing for the reduction of direct board bureaucracy in local governance and optimizing the procedures the platform uses in favor of more straightforward and thoughtful service. Stewardship is a role offering gravitas quite useful in these fields even if it does not directly control them.

:#Consistent availability will not be possible I'm afraid; I expect that I will not be a very prominent everyday figure as there are multiple existing staff and candidates likely to be more visible in the community. What I offer is more subtle to be elaborated in #2, and I can offer that much because ultimately I am available on discord alone by direct ping pretty much always and at least browse on an occasional basis which I can boost to daily or near-daily on-wiki logins. In the end there is enough investment here I am unlikely to totally vanish, short of an incident so discouraging I no longer wish to have affiliation.
:# I would prioritize offering a second or alternate view in more involved decisions such as community interventions or CU investigations, being an alternate or fresh, or occasionally quite biased by experience opinion which may rear itself in wiki requests, appeals or again following up on an intervention that was started by another, and as possible soliciting community input and more rarely directly tackling more everyday issues. Where desired I'd like to impart topical experience to peers and help them get new skills. First line wiki reviews, most matters of CU/common vandalism, and support tasks along the steward requests or help desk variety will likely be more quickly served by a peer. For a bonus, the title of operations director itself could well be streamlined into a simple board 'vote of no confidence' and a steward peer may be able to do an emergency removal which later solicits community/board validation. Also along these lines I have thought for a moment now, there is not much semantic purpose to the division of 'safety' and 'steward' operations here. The two often overlap and there is little specialized knowledge or need as far as I know on the platform to make T&S a truly separate process. The two could become one and the existing T&S lead can instead be the T&S contact for the occasional compliance purpose that may come up. I do not see that really causing any problems but any of these thoughts should of course be discussed and not taken at face value.

And these aspects are ideal to any open service project like this.
:::On another side of is the community facing core of the project which comes under a team, operations presently. Foremost of these figures, the stewards, though this regularly overlaps with the board. They are part of the whole so I wouldn't like to set a hard boundary and call them 'the community governance' axiomatic to 'board authority', but I think it is reasonable to let the community self-represent, the figures empowered by the people work on their behalf, and for the board to also operate on the community's behalf, but in its more indirect way. If it's not clear what people want then it is the duty of leaders, from stewards to the board or direction-setter of tech, to find that out. Not guess but to find out as objectively as possible.
:::If these was a situation like a controversial request for comment where a lot of people want something but the board has fully researched the matter and has good reasons not to do it, I think it would be reasonable for the board to explain this and do what should be a rare override. I actively maintain and contribute to several wikis including the Prehistoric Wiki, the Minecraft Wiki, and the Mathematics Wiki. As it stands, WikiOasis currently has no global patrollers, and I believe that is a gap worth filling. I am volunteering for this role out of genuine concern for the safety and quality of the platform, and to properly support staff in keeping it safe. Underage users are a serious issue on WikiOasis, they return repeatedly despite being blocked, and having a dedicated global patroller reporting directly to staff would make handling these cases significantly easier. On average, a blocked underage user creates around 5 alt accounts, and I have experience detecting them through patterns in writing style, user page formatting, and also grammar. I take this application seriously and I hope it is received the same way, and I am not trying to act like a security guard, what is this nonsense, Ii anyone is willing to guide me through any responsibilities associated with the role, I would greatly appreciate it. == Globe (Revocation) ==
Hello all.

I have been ruminating on this for a while, and while I understand my own role in this conflict, it has been brewing for many months behind closed doors. I understand Globe has held this role (or equivalent) since almost day 1 of WO, however right now, I don't believe that Globe has either the intention or the ability to continue to act in the best interest of WO. This latest incident which has cemented my opinion on the matter is relating to attempts to micromanage the opinions of volunteers. I will detail this further along in this fairly long topic.

This is not meant to be a spiteful attempt to remove him from a position of trust within the community, but I myself feel the trust that I have placed in Globe is no longer honoured. This stems from a pattern of behaviour that I have noticed that appears to me to be anti-community, and some are downright ridiculous:

* Globe has a very strong opposition to 2FA (two-factor authentication), which is currently mandated for all foundation managed Google accounts. Globe does not have 2FA enabled currently on his on wiki account as of writing, and at the time when I changed 2FA to become a requirement for foundation Google accounts, I recall Globe saying (through channels that have since been made private to me), that he was considering motioning the board to remove requirements for 2FA. I need not explain the security risks this poses, but the attitude of "I have a strong enough password not to get hacked" really isn't sufficient, and runs a risk of compromise to users safety.
* I continually have the belief that Globe wants to keep control of the site, such as election of stewards, global sysops and other RfC topics under the control of the board, one of his concerns being people from less reputable communities supporting their preferred candidates who may cause problems. While I appreciate the community governance mechanisms haven't been around for long, these concerns are yet to be realised, and I've seen evidence above on this page that these concerns have actively not happened.
* The latest incident is surrounding volunteer opinions, their ability to speak freely, and Globe actively trying to micromanage them. If you read [[User:Globe/Volunteer Conduct Policy]] (which is largely LLM generated), it effectively removes any ability for volunteers to speak critically on any matter. This is backed up by internal messages, where [[User:Fearless|Fearless]] said to Globe 'You're just trying to drag it out for some ideal behaviour that you want to be enforced on WikiOasis Volunteers', where he then responded 'Correct. You've got it'. The belief that volunteers represent the foundation is entirely unfounded, has not been approved by the board to my knowledge, and these roles are entirely community managed and shouldn't be micromanaged by the foundation, this goes entirely against the point of the roles being appointed.

I don't want to turn this into a big spat, because it's not worth the time, but right now the constant internal arguments provide an environment I cannot work in, to the point that I am planning to distance myself from the project entirely (or at least to tech only until someone can takeover those responsiblities) when these weekly arguments are happening, it contributes to me becoming ever more burnt out, and generally makes me not enjoy working on the project in the way that I did. I am ending up pulled away from tech to defend my peers when their conduct is continually being pointed out by Globe as unacceptable for various reasons which to me and others seem unacceptable.

I appreciate this is very much the nuclear option, but right now I don't see Globe's involvement in the steward team to be contributing positively to the overall success of this project, and instead focuses on micromanaging his peers as though he has superiority over them, and continually picking flaws with how they speak in public channels. I'm going to just make a more detailed version of my initial statement to address some of the issues raised here:
* I don't think this is entirely a personal spat, ultimately it stems from the fact that short of me entirely leaving the project which I don't see as a feasible option without it dying a very slow and quite painful death, there is no other way to stop the constant arguments that happen internally, that are almost entirely between me and Globe. I will admit I instigate just as many arguments between us, but ultimately it's a conflict that I don't see any other way really to end. I do know how it can be seen as a personal spat, but I really don't see a way forward for my involvement while Globe is here in the position that he is.
* With regards to the misuse of CheckUser, I have not conducted nor been involved in a full audit, however there are approximately 300 checks across all wikis that Globe has performed, of which 90% had no reason attached to them. When 1 in 10 checks are unclear to others about why exactly they are being performed. Even if they were from SuggestedInvestigations, 96% of his checks from before the feature was even implemented didn't have a reason. This obfuscation makes it unclear why checks are being ran, I assume all are for the most part legitimate checks, but when so many checks don't have a reason I find it hard to AGF.
* There is a wider pattern of poor handling of PII, for example, internally I have been pushing to use Slack for NDAed communications, such as board, T&S and tech. Globe is seemingly entirely opposed to moving stewards onto Slack, which is a safer place for PII as it means that a rouge discord admin can't grant someone a role which would then give them access to a fairly substantial amount of PII shared in various channels.
* I will clear up a lot on the 2FA part:
** Firstly, Globe did not actually motion the board, based on my recollection it was simply some form of threat to push for removing 2FA as a requirement on Discord.
** Secondly, regarding that it is "untrue" — I appreciate there may be gaps in what I can say here as it happened a while ago in the board discord server, there were frequent discussions from Globe surrounding him wanting to get rid of 2FA requirements.
** I primarily recall Globe making a threat/statement along the lines of "please remove 2FA from Discord or I will motion the board", this was corroborated by a message that I sent to someone in April where I said 'did I mention globe has threatened to motion the board surrounding the requirement for 2fa in discord/google' — which to me reiterates my belief that Globe was going to consider using his board role to remove a 2FA requirement on discord.
* With regards to how Globe says he was the first to support the motion surrounding community governance, I do not doubt that, however it took a lot of pushback. Globe had prepared a form for people to express interest in becoming global volunteers, which in response to I expressed the general sentiment that I would prefer we go for the system of publicly requested roles voted on by the community, to which he very literally said "no" without any further discussion. Below is a transcript of that interaction:

* Then there's the handling of two fairly large wiki migrations which ultimately went unsuccessfully and I question largely.
**Wikinews was shutdown by the WMF in early May, and one person who edited Wikinews (won't name them here to avoid outing them) joined the WO discord and wanted to move Wikinews to WO (along with 1-2 others), despite no consensus existing from the existing Wikinews community based on Meta discussions, and discussions ongoing between MH and the WMF surrounding the copyright. Despite this, newswiki was created in what I can only describe as an overzealous attempt to move a community with no consensus. This prompted me being privately told by an onlooker that WO was not a "serious enough project for anyone other than you", and they had encouraged newswiki not to stay with WO.
**Sneaky Sasquatch Wiki was considering a move from Fandom, to either WO, MH, WG or WGG — the aggressive attitude of Globe (and others) at very quickly joining their Discord after one of their bureaucrats had asked for advice in the WO discord and pushing very aggressively for them to join WO, to the point that those in their community had become suspicious. I then followed, having already been in the server since before the founding of WO as a periodic player of the game. I was mostly giving the advice to them that while WO is very similar to MH, they may get somewhat better service from MH/WG, effectively saying that I don't always agree with what goes on at WO, trying to give the sentiment of "it’s not the best space for every wiki". Globe apparently took this as me attempting to disparage WO, saying verbatim that "nobody had asked me to join, that I did so of my own accord to share information that would not make them migrate". I am genuinely of the belief that not every wiki is one that best suits WO, and equally so that WO doesn't best suit every wiki, and forcing a community into something they themselves aren't sure of is simply dishonest and would cause more long term damage than simply encouraging them to find the best host for them.

Open Letter to the WikiOasis Foundation Board April 2026

Dear WikiOasis Foundation Board,<br><br>
I have been an active contributor to this project since day 1, in October 2024. I have poured hundreds, if not thousands of hours of my time into this project, because I believed in the mission. Recently, thinking about decisions passed by the Foundation board, I feel that the way that this project is governed is counter to how it was intended to be back on the first day.<br><br>
Decisions such as who serves as a global rights holder has been left under the jurisdiction of the board, and when I have privately discussed changing how these rights holders are chosen, I have been downright told "no", or given vague answers as to why this is not possible, without transparency.<br><br>
When the WikiOasis Foundation was incorporated, I had reservations surrounding how the board would govern operations, however in recent weeks it's become increasingly clear to me that the board have no interest in providing governance to the community at large, instead wanting issues such as steward, global administrator and other global rights placements to be handled behind closed doors, leaving those hundreds of wikis and thousands of users who use the platform to have no say in who serves them.<br><br>
The Board do not appear to be concerned about some of the most pressing issues currently, such as financial pressure and a lack of funding, focusing instead on governing the community, which should govern itself.<br><br>
At minimum, the Board need to accept that self-governance solely by the board poses risks to key stakeholders within the community, and should involve the community in decision making as much as possible, opening public forums for discussion of site policy where possible, and allowing the community to choose who serves as a global rights holder and on the board. This transparency and trust should underpin all decisions that feasibly can be made publicly, and allow the Board to better serve the needs of the community.<br><br>
I would urge the Board to seriously reconsider their Board-only leadership structure, focusing instead on a structure which provides community stakeholders access to open discussion on board related matters.<br><br>
The signatories of this letter are concerned the Board does not currently operate in a way that reflects the values of the movement. We want to work together and change this closed activity of the Board, and open forums for discussion surrounding the project to the wider community, allowing them to have a say in how their platform is ran.<br>

The WikiOasis Foundation Board is issuing this statement to provide some transparency regarding recent changes to the Board of Directors.

Following a recent situation coming to the attention of the Board regarding the state of Foundation finances, a wider review of the Foundation finances was conducted. During this review, numerous issues with the management and use of Foundation funds were found. As a direct result of this review, the former President has entirely stepped down from their position within the Foundation.

The independent review discovered that the former President had performed multiple unapproved expenditures totaling $385.89, which violated the WikiOasis Foundation Board Policy, which states that “The President shall not carry out expenditures directly unless authorized by resolution of the Board”. The family of the former President made a donation to make the Foundation whole again, and the Board of Directors has chosen to take no legal action at this time. Additionally, all efforts have been made to secure refunds from vendors where unauthorized transactions were made. No other Board members were aware of, or were engaged in, this incident until the review took place.

The Board and Foundation are taking the following steps to ensure that future incidents do not occur:
* Strengthening financial oversight within the Board;
* Reviewing and updating financial statements and preparing to share abridged versions of these statements publicly;
* Reviewing the separation of duties, and accountability for account-keeping;
* Assessing whether additional independent review measures may be required.

The Board wants to uphold the Foundation’s commitment to transparency, through making this statement, and committing to hold up to date abridged statements publicly visible on our platform.

The Foundation’s operations will continue without interruption, and all other members of the Board and Foundation will remain the same. A successor has already been appointed, best known to you as Tali64³, who will continue to lead the Foundation forward. Anyone with a financial background interested in assisting with managing Foundation finances is encouraged to reach out to the Board of Directors at board@wikioasis.org.
