== Responsibilities ==
There are no current bureaucrats on Meta; stewards serve as Meta Bureaucrats.
Bureaucrats are mainly responsible for:
* Assigning or removing rights like bot and administrator
* Determining consensus in Requests for Permissions (RfP), Requests for Comment (RfC), and other community discussions
* Helping resolve user rights disputes when needed

Unlike administrators, bureaucrats do not have additional tools for editing or moderation — their role is specifically tied to managing permissions and enforcing community decisions.

== Appointment ==
To become a bureaucrat on WikiOasis, a user must go through a community approval process. This usually involves:
* Submitting a request at [[Meta:Requests for permissions]]
* Receiving broad support from active community members (typically at least 70% support)
* Meeting any specific criteria or thresholds set by local policy

Final approval is granted by a current bureaucrat or administrator, depending on consensus.

== Revocation ==
Bureaucrat rights can be removed if:
* The user misuses their permissions
* They act against community consensus
* They have been inactive for a long period
* A formal request for removal is made and supported by the community

== Re-addition ==
A former bureaucrat who voluntarily stepped down or lost rights due to inactivity can reapply through the normal process. If their removal was due to policy violation or misuse, reappointment requires stronger community approval and oversight.
